Compass Rose Earrings represent two distinct worlds found on the same loom. Each earring features a unique design, one with diamonds adorned with thorns and the other with stars, symbolizing the diversity and beauty of the universe. Despite their differences, both designs share a diamond shape, uniting these two pieces in visual harmony. Like a compass rose, these earrings remind us that there are many directions we can take in life, each with its own beauty and challenges.

These pieces have been created in collaboration with an artisan from the highlands of Chiapas, Mexico. The threads are made of cotton, and the technique used is called telar de cintura (backstrap loom). In this collection, Damar explores the significance of Chiapaneco weaving symbols, integrating them with the various forms and patterns found in silver filigree.

The filigree in Damar's work is done in Mompas, Colombia where the delicate threads of filigrana momposina are intertwined to form their intricate designs. This technique passed down through generations, is a testament to the skill and patience of the momposino artisans. Each piece of filigrana momposina is a work of art that reflects the rich biodiversity and landscapes of Mompos.

Post earrings made of sterling silver, woven cotton thread, and 950 sterling silver to achieve fine filigree thread thicknesses.

4" drop, 2" wide.
