Burr Puzzle by DAR Proyectos
Named for its resemblance to a burr seed, the burr puzzle takes the form of a captivating three-dimensional creation crafted from interlocking notched sticks. Our version is handmade in Peru from semi-precious onyx by DAR Proyectos. The 6 piece star-shaped puzzle forms a complex and striking object when not in use, and will captivate any visitor to your desk or home.
Each piece is carved from banded onyx, a striking quartz-based mineral from the Arequipan Andes of Perú. This protective stone is associated with a grounding energy, dispelling negative energy and offering motivation and preserverance.
Puzzle measures approx. 2 1/2 inches in diameter.
Desarrollo Artesanal Rentable (DAR) Proyectos believes that mindful design can act as a bridge between indigenous craft communities and global citizens. Founded by designers Jenny Boucher and Mauricio Navarro, who live and work in the northern provinces of La Libertad and Cajamarca, Peru, DAR Proyectos works with a diverse team of indigenous mixed heritage artisans from the Peruvian Andes. Families share generational knowledge and traditional techniques and DAR's community-focused approach enables the capacity of artisan groups to be scaled-up, allowing the development of a network of regional associations and enabling long term self management. DAR aligns with the UNESCO intangible cultural preservation goals to promote local Andean culture through great design. Their objective is to act as a bridge between artisanal communities and the global design market.
